Training a New generation of Researchers in Offshore Seaweed Aquaculture to Produce High-value Chemicals - SeaChem

Three MSCA DN SEACHEM doctoral candidates attended the International Seaweed Symposium (ISS25) in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, from 4 to 9 May 2025. Held every three years and organised by the International Seaweed Association, this highly anticipated conference brings together leading seaweed researchers from around the world.

Hussein Ahmad Qulatein (DC9), Vanessa Nardini (DC5), and Julie Grivotte (DC6) each delivered oral presentations, sharing the latest results from their doctoral research. They were joined by SEACHEM partner Dr. Julie Maguire from Bantry Marine Research Station.

The symposium offered an outstanding opportunity to engage with the global seaweed research community, learn about state-of-the-art developments in the field, and raise the profile of the SEACHEM project and its findings on an international stage.
