Raf DEWIL holds a MSc in Chemical Engineering Science (KU Leuven – 2003) and a PhD in Bioscience Engineering (University of Antwerp – 2006). He is currently full professor at the Chemical Engineering Department of KU Leuven and visiting professor at the Engineering Science Department of the University of Oxford. His research field is mainly in the treatment of hazardous waste(water) streams, with a strong focus on research recovery, both in terms of renewable energy carriers and chemicals. He hereby mainly applies intensified chemical processes. Raf Dewil has published over 170 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and his worked received over 8500 citations (h-index = 40 (ISI-WoS). He has contributed (as organizer, scientific committee member, keynote lecturer, session chairman, presenter) to numerous international conferences. He is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Environmental Management (IF-2020 = 8.910), board member of various international journals (including Renewable Energy, Chemical Engineering Journal, Water, Energies, Sustainability, …) and a regular reviewer for numerous international journals. He has been partner and coordinator in various national and international research projects.
