Roberto obtained his master’s in Chemical and Bioprocess engineering at the Technical University Hamburg and he has always been fascinated by the idea of extracting valuable compounds from biomass that was traditionally considered waste or invaluable. He believes this will be the future of the chemical industry, leading to a huge reduction in environmentally harmful processes that rely on highly polluting chemicals. Roberto believes that we should use 100% of the resources we are taking from nature and reduce waste to a minimum. For this reason, he decided to start his PhD researching the extraction of highly valuable compounds from seaweed.
After finishing his bachelor’s in chemical engineering at the University of Granada, Spain, Roberto moved to Germany to do his master’s and right after finishing the master’s, he moved again, this time to Belgium, to start the PhD. He loves traveling and experiencing different countries.
